  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line your baking sheets with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, followed by the vanilla extract. Ensure everything is combined thoroughly.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder until fully combined.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry mixture into the creamed mixture until just combined; do not overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Baking
  1. Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set and centers look soft and slightly glossy.
  3. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, keep butter at room temperature and avoid overmixing. Try refrigerating dough for 30 minutes before baking for enhanced flavor.
