Method
Prepare the Syrup
- In a medium saucepan, combine the pitted cherries, sugar, and 1 cup of water. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally for about 15-20 minutes.
- Once the syrup has simmered, remove the saucepan from heat and let it steep for 20 minutes.
- Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a large pitcher, pressing down gently on the cherries to extract as much liquid as possible.
Mix the Limeade
- Add the fresh lime juice to the strained syrup and stir well to combine.
- Pour in the remaining 3 cups of cold water, adjusting to taste. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Serve
- To serve, fill glasses with ice and pour the Cherry Limeade over the top.
- Garnish with fresh mint leaves and lime slices.
Notes
Use ripe cherries for the sweetest syrup. Keep the drink chilled before serving to ensure it remains refreshing. For variations, experiment with other fruits or natural sweeteners.
