Mochi Base
  • 1 cup glutinous rice flour Essential for mochi texture.
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder Use unsweetened cocoa for a rich chocolate flavor.
  • 3/4 cup sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 cup water Used for mixing the batter.

Method
 

Preparation and Cooking
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, cocoa powder, and sugar.
  2. Gradually add water, mixing until the batter is smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into a steamer or heatproof dish.
  4. Steam over medium heat for about 30 minutes, or until the center is set.
Cooling and Slicing
  1. Remove from heat and let the mochi cool completely before slicing.
  2. Using a sharp knife, slice into small squares for serving.

Notes

Mochi is best enjoyed in small portions due to its chewy texture. Store in a lidded container to prevent drying out.
