Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, cream cheese, granulated sugar, and packed brown sugar until fluffy.
- Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Divide the dough in half and roll each portion into a rectangle about ¼-inch thick.
- Sprinkle each rectangle with brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
- Roll each rectangle tightly into a log, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Baking
- Cut the logs into ½-inch rounds and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Glazing (optional)
- If desired, drizzle with a simple powdered sugar glaze once the cookies are cool.
Notes
Ensure butter and cream cheese are fully softened for the best texture. Chill the dough for clean spirals. For a softer cinnamon flavor, reduce the cinnamon used.
