Ingredients

For the Marinade
  • 1 lb chicken (thighs or breasts) You can use chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce For seasoning the chicken
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice Opt for fresh for the best flavor
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced) Adds depth to the marinade
For the Sauce
  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice Bright and zesty
  • 1/4 cup honey Balances the flavors
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch For thickening the sauce
  • 1/4 tsp ginger (grated) Adds warmth
For Serving
  • 2 cups steamed rice White or brown rice pairs well
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds For garnish
  • 1 stk green onions (sliced) For garnish

Method

Marinating the Chicken
  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, fresh orange juice, and minced garlic.
  2. Add chicken to the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, preferably a few hours in the refrigerator.
Cooking
  1. Heat a pan over medium-high heat and add the marinated chicken.
  2. Cook until the chicken is browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side.
  3. Remove the chicken and let it rest.
  4. In the same pan, add fresh orange juice, honey, cornstarch, and ginger, stirring until thickened.
Serving
  1. Slice the cooked chicken and serve it over steamed rice.
  2. Drizzle the sauce over the chicken and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best taste. Marinating adds depth and flavor to the chicken. Adjust spice levels by changing the amount of ginger or adding hot sauce.
