Ingredients
  

For the Bars
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Sifted for best results
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup maple syrup Use high-quality for rich flavor
  • 1 cup milk Preferably whole milk
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter Melted
For the Glaze
  • 1 cup powdered sugar Sifted for smoothness
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp milk
Optional Toppings
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts Such as pecans or walnuts
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon Sprinkled on top

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together maple syrup, milk, and melted butter.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Baking
  1. Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  2. Bake for 25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  3. Let the bars cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing them to cool completely on a wire rack.
Glazing
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth.
  2. Once the bars have cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top.
  3. If using, sprinkle chopped nuts or cinnamon on top of the glaze.

Notes

These bars are perfect with a cup of coffee or tea. They can also be frozen for later use. To reheat, simply warm them in the microwave for a few seconds.
