Ingredients

Mochi Ingredients
  • 1 cup sweet rice flour (mochi flour) Essential for the chewy texture.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar Balances the sweetness.
  • 1 cup water For mixing with the flour.
  • ½ cup Nutella For filling.
  • to taste tablespoons Cornstarch For dusting to prevent sticking.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sweet rice flour and sugar until well mixed.
  2. Gradually add water, stirring continuously until you create a smooth, thick batter.
Cooking
  1. Transfer the batter to a microwave-safe dish. Cover it with plastic wrap and microwave on high for 1 minute.
  2. Stir well and microwave for an additional minute, repeating this process until the dough becomes sticky and slightly translucent (about 3 minutes total).
  3. Dust a clean surface with cornstarch to prevent sticking and transfer the dough onto it. Allow it to cool for a few minutes.
Assembly
  1. Divide the dough into small pieces, roughly 2 tablespoons each.
  2. Flatten each piece in your palm and place a spoonful of Nutella in the center. Carefully wrap the dough around the filling, pinching the edges to seal it, then roll it into a ball.
  3. Roll the finished mochi in cornstarch to keep them from sticking together and let them cool completely before serving.

Notes

Ensure the dough is sticky for the right chewy texture. You can roll the mochi in cocoa powder for a chocolatey finish. Store in an airtight container for a couple of days or in the fridge for about a week.
