  • 0.5 teaspoon salt Balances flavor.
For the Frosting
  • 1 cup heavy cream Makes a luxurious frosting.
  • 0.5 cups powdered sugar Adds sweetness and stability.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For added flavor.
For Decoration
  • fresh slices orange slices For topping the cake.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) if your model requires preheating.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes.
  3. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition for even distribution.
  4. Stir in the orange juice and zest, ensuring well combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Mix until just combined—avoid overmixing to keep the cake tender.
  7. Lightly grease two 9-inch round cake pans. Divide the batter evenly between the pans and smooth the tops.
Baking
  1. Place the pans in the air fryer basket. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the tops are golden.
  2. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting and Assembly
  1. For the frosting, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, whipping until stiff peaks form.
  2. Once completely cooled, frost the top of one layer, stack the second layer on top, and frost the entire cake. Garnish with fresh orange slices before serving.

Notes

Ensure cakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting. Consider adding poppy seeds or an orange glaze for variations.
